We are now accepting submissions for our RECORD HIGH: VOICES! – A Black History Month Spoken Word & Hip Hop Contest, inviting youth and adults to share their voice, perspective, and creativity.
Divisions:
• Junior (Under 18)
• Adult (18+)
Categories:
• Spoken Word
• Hip Hop / Rap
First Prize – The Junior and Adult winners of each category will be invited to perform their piece on the main concourse at the NJ Devils Black History Month Heritage Night game on Tuesday February 3rd at 7pm. Each finalist will receive a pair of complimentary tickets to attend the game as our guests. Discounted tickets will be available to purchase for additional friends and family members.
Winners will also be invited to record their winning pieces at a recording session at Sound on Sound Studios in Montclair, NJ with the Record High team at a later date.
Performance Length: 2–3 minutes
Theme: What does Black History Month mean to you?
Content Guidelines:
- All submissions must be clean and appropriate for a general audience.
- No explicit language, hate speech, or derogatory content will be accepted.
- Rap performances may be a capella or with an accompanying music track.
- All performances must be original and directly respond to the contest theme.
Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be disqualified.

- Record your performance (video required)
- Upload it as an unlisted YouTube video
